| My paddling career started in 1999 when the South Australian Sports Institute identified me as a potential paddler through the Talent ID Program.
In 2000 I was offered my first scholarship with SASI and this same year I raced at my first Australian National Championships in the U16 age group, where I won my first ever national medals! I fell in love with the sport and from that day on I have raced at every Australian National Championships. In 2002 I made my first Junior National Team and traveled to Europe where I raced in World Cups in Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic, and in 2003 I again made the Junior National Team which traveled to Japan to race in the Junior World Championships. Following this I moved in to the Open ranks and I continued to race and train hard, and in 2005 I made my first Australian Senior National Team which raced in World Cup’s in Poland and Germany, and in the World Championships in Croatia. In 2007 I made my second National Senior Team and will be traveling to Europe for four months, racing in World Cups in Hungary and France, and the World Championships in Germany. This year is the most important year for my paddling career so far. I will be racing in the Women’s K4 500m at the World Championships where we hope to medal, and qualify the boat for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Ultimately, my goal is to win a medal at the 2008 Olympics. After this, I hope to continue paddling and race at the 2012 London Olympics! But first, there is much hard work to be done! |
