About Steve Vegh

– Owner and founder of Canoe Innovations

Also called ‘The Master’ because of my huge passion and experience in the industry, I have been paddling and racing around the world since I was 15. I built my first sprint racing canoe at the ‘Izzo Club’ in Hungary where I was a member from an early age. I have always been good with my hands and in my early years, I learnt all of my craftsmanship from my father and older brother and I continue to use these skills at present.

In my years of experience, I have achieved a number of Hungarian, Australian and international championships for different crafts; 60% of these achievements have been in sprint racing high kneeling canoes, and the rest are attributed to kayaks and outrigger canoes.

Some of my other achievements include winning 6 consecutive Australian championships in a double kayak with my wife and paddling 404km Murray marathon five times and winning the TK-2 relay open class three times. In addition to this, I am also a qualified coach and mentor for kayakers and outrigger canoes for both abled and disabled athletes.

As you can see, paddling is not just a passion of mine; it is both my business and my lifestyle and I love sharing it with people who love the sport as much as I do!

“Winners are not those who never fail, but those who never quit!”
